Shades of Truth
Project type
Monochrome wildlife art
Shades of Truth is a body of work reduced to its bare essentials.
Drawn entirely in black and white, these pieces strip away colour, distraction, and embellishment. What remains is form, expression, and fact. Each animal is rendered with realism and restraint, allowing the subject — and the reality it represents — to speak without interference.
This portfolio confronts the quieter, harder truths of the natural world. Declining populations, human impact, and loss sit beneath the surface of every piece. There is no attempt to soften these realities or dress them up as beauty. The absence of colour is intentional — a reflection of what is being eroded, removed, or forgotten.
By working in monochrome, the focus shifts to character and presence. Every line matters. Every mark carries weight. These works ask the viewer to slow down, look closer, and engage with what is often easier to ignore.
Shades of Truth is not about hopelessness. It exists to create clarity — to replace noise with understanding, and to remind us that facing the truth is the first step toward protecting what still remains.
