400 (Print)
400 responds to a number that should never feel normal.
At the time this piece was created, fewer than 400 Amur tigers were believed to remain in the wild. This drawing places one of them directly into a human-made space — set against a wall layered with our words, promises, and contradictions.
The tiger is alert and powerful, but exposed. Its presence is undeniable, yet its future is fragile. The surface behind it speaks of responsibility and solutions, while the reality for the animal remains uncertain. Awareness is easy. Action is harder.
Drawn in coloured pencil with a focus on realism and texture, 400 sits where wild meets urban. It confronts the cost of human impact and asks what responsibility really means when a species is reduced to a statistic.
This work exists as witness and resistance — against complacency, delay, and quiet acceptance of loss.
